Lorenzo, the alpaca, was struggling with other livestock for small amounts of food and losing to those larger than him. Not having had appropriate nutrition, he ultimately laid down in his shelter at Full Circle Farm and did not have the strength to get up for more than a month. Amazingly, his digestive system continued to work so we kept food and water within his reach and physically moved him several times a day to clean around him. Lorenzo received medical treatments from the veterinarian but had lost his muscle strength and could not get up on his own. We provided physical therapy for our food-motivated guy, first helping him stand, then walk. One morning we looked out the window and saw Lorenzo STANDING outside his shelter. Today he is a happy, healthy, active alpaca enjoying life.
